Summary

In 1908, the idea of magnetic domains was proposed by Weiss. Most things that are or have the possiblity of being magnetized are full of microscopic areas of different magnetizations. The material only exhibits an over all field if there is a majority of these domains pointing in one direction over all others.

Setup

Here are some pictures of the setup of my equipment.
A picture of the setup
The setup was in the biology lab at Penn State Behrend. I would like to say thanks to Dr. Warren for all his help.

Here is a close up of the microscope. A 100X microscope with a digital camera is needed to do this experiment.

Here is the powering end of the experiment. Monitoring the output of the power supply using an oscilloscope is also needed.
No, that is not me it is my friend Lancelot.

This is a picture of what the domains look like.
Article

Here is a draft of my paper on magnetic domains of thin films. Also, here is a link to my presentation on this subject in pdf format.

I only request that if you use my paper or my talk give me credit and link to www.phancyphysicist.com.

Thanks.
